My definition of "southern comfort food" is all of the traditional dishes that we enjoy in "Southern Italy". Many of these dishes are what can be considered "peasant food" or simply dishes that were born out of desperation and creativity back in the day when our ancestors had to figure out a way to feed the most mouths on the smallest budget. Nowadays, they are meals that I enjoy with my family as we not only create new memories but also reminisce about the past.

Sicilian cuisine shows traces of all the cultures which established themselves on the island of Sicily over the last two millenniums. Although the Sicilian cuisine has a lot in common with Italian cuisine, Sicilian food also has Spanish, Greek and Arab 

influences.
